The Gimuy-Walubara Yidinji are the traditional custodians of Cairns and the surrounding district.  Gimuy is the traditional place name for the area Cairns City now occupies and we pay our respects to the people of Gimuy-Walubara Yidinji Country on whose land we work and meet.  We pay respects to Gimuy-Walubara Yidinji Elders, past, present and emerging, and acknowledge that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples hold knowledge about health practice and medical treatment which has been practiced for thousands of generations.

Practice History

Beginning in 1992 Doctors Cameron McLeod, Cathy Meehan, Dot Russell, and Chris Haug established the McLeod Street Medical Partnership and welcomed Bruce Bilbe on board in 1998. The partnership became a 4-person team when Dot moved interstate in 2007. In 2012 the physical building was renovated and extended to accommodate further consulting and treatment rooms. There have been many changes in the intervening years however the remaining business partners, Cameron and Cathy, are committed to providing a supportive environment in which GP’s can provide comprehensive care for their patients.

McLeod Street Medical is fully AGPAL accredited and is committed to providing quality health care.  Support staff includes registered and enrolled nurses, receptionists and a practice manager working to ensure that each patient receives care in a compassionate and respectful manner.
